
Mamie lead a life of service evidenced by her work at Broughton hospital from where she retired, her membership at Shiloh AME Church, and her dedication to her family and friends. For those who may not have been fortunate enough to know Mamie personally, she certainly left her mark on anyone who drove by her home as she had a passion for doing things with her hands and was an avid gardener. She will be remembered for more than her beautiful flowers. She will be remembered for having a beautiful soul.
Mamie was preceded in death by her parents Wineford and Annie Corpening Sr., husband Samuel R. Caldwell Sr., sister Christine Houpe, her sons Samuel R. Caldwell Jr. and Randall W. Caldwell, and grandson Colin R. Caldwell.
She is survived by her sisters Zelma Jackson, Virginia Frances, Nancy Moore (Fred), Marion Hammet (Willie), Janet Stowe, and her brother Wineford Corpening Jr. (Brenda). Mamie has two daughters Phyllis and Susan (Van), grandchildren Deleah, Asia, Ryan, Cherrica, Angie (Tim), great grandchildren Bryson, Keiann, Kameron, Kyla, Dayche, Nini, great-great grandchild, Ari and beautiful in-laws: Ernest, Deborah and Cassandra, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends whom she loved.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 5, 2023 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Kirksey Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Johnson officiating. Burial will follow the service at Shiloh AME Church Cemetery.
Family members will serve as pallbearers.
The family’s only request is for prayers of comfort during this difficult time.
