Matthew loved music, his dog, baseball and math, but there was nothing in his life that could touch his love of kayaking. He was a 2017 graduate of A. C. Reynolds High School and was planning to attend UNC Asheville this fall.
He is survived by his mother and father, Jeanette and Mike Ray; a brother, Jackson, all of Fairview; grandparents, Frank and Ronnie Scott of Morristown, TN; four aunts, Carrie Gronbeck and Marie Long on Panama City, FL, and Karen Worthington and Pam Gantt of NC. Matthew is also survived by numerous cousins, other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life for Matthew will be held at 5:00 PM on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at the Taylor Ranch, 1005 Cane Creek Rd., Fletcher, NC. Everyone, especially his fellow kayakers, are welcome.
