Ned Phifer Murray

Ned Phifer Murray, 92, of Morganton, went to be with the Lord, Sunday, October 28, 2012 while at McDowell Assisted Living in Marion. Born July 10, 1920 in Rutherford County, NC, he was the son of the late Avery Murray and Addie Orders Murray.

Mr. Murray was of the Baptist Faith. He loved working the land and was an avid hunter. His professional career was spent doing carpentry, brick and stone work.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Legran “Dot” Murray; four sisters, Rosa Murray, Mildred Murray Denton, Margaret Murray Philips and Mary Christine Murray; and two brothers, John Murray and Charles Murray.

He is survived by his son, James Robert Murray of Ajijic, Mexico;

a daughter, Susan Rebecca Rockett McClure & husband, Manuel Mike McClure, of Marion; grandchildren, Tish Murray, Kristen Thien and Dustin McClure; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, October 31, 2012, in the Chapel of Kirksey Funeral Home, Morganton, with the Reverend Christopher Dale officiating. Interment will follow the service at the Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery with Military Honors by the US Navy and the Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard.
