Nelson Moran Abernathy age, 81 went home to be with his Lord on August 09,2018 while at Carolinas Medical Center Blue Ridge after a short battle with cancer. Mr. Nelson was born August 26,1936 to the late James Edward Abernathy and Marjorie Mull Abernathy.
Mr. Nelson was preceded in death by his son James Nelson Abernathy.
Nelson retired as from NCSD (North Carolina School of the Deaf) as a high school Principal. Mr. Nelson also served his county for 4 years in the U.S. Air Force, he attended both Appalachian State and Lenoir Rhyne Universities with a MS Degree in Special Education. Mr. Nelson was very active in the Glen Alpine Ruritan Club, Mayor Pro Tem for the town of Glen Alpine, and the NCSD Foundation.
Those to left to share the memories of Nelson Moran Abernathy are his wife; Christine D. Abernathy; Daughter, Kim Clarke; two grandchildren; Ashley Abernathy and Cody Clark; four great grandchildren, and special friend Scarlett Clarke.
Memorial Service will Sunday August 19, 2018 at the First Advent Christian Church Of Morganton
The Family will receive friends at 2:00-2:45 pm
Service begins at 3:00 PM
