Rose Marie "Rosie" Mease

Rose Marie "Rosie" Dover Mease, age 85, of Marion, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 4, 2023. She was born the daughter of the late the Harry Talmadge Dover and Catherine Williams Dover on June 24, 1937 in Martinsville, Virginia.

In Rosie's own words, "She was a simple little mountain girl who loved the Lord and other people". She considered her proudest moment when all of her children accepted Christ as their Savior.

Rosie was an accomplished piano and organ musician. She started playing at churches at the young age of eight. Rosie's musical talents have not only been heard locally but in churches all over the country. Some of her favorite hymns include, "Sweet Beulah Land", "Just Give Me Jesus", "Amazing Grace" and "I'll Fly Away". Rosie was a longtime member of Story Memorial Presbyterian Church and served as their pianist for over 23 years. She also enjoyed reading and traveling.

Along with her parents, Rosie is preceded in death by a brother, William Dover and a sister, Donna Lou Dover Wilson.

Rosie, the most loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend; she will be greatly missed. Her legacy will be carried on by her four children, Diane Maness and her husband Ed of Apex, Rebecca Whittington of Hickory, David Mease and his wife Tracey of Morganton, and Mark Mease and his wife Melissa of Hickory; her five grandchildren, Brooke Staton and her husband Andrew, Hunter Whittington and his wife Emily, Caitlin Whittington and her husband Noah, Brandon Mease, and Aaron Bath; two great grandchildren, Colbie and Charlie Staton; three sisters, Rita Lea McMahan and her husband Bill, Annie Byrum, and Molly Holifield and her husband Larry; a brother, Jay Gaston Dover and his wife Melissa. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, February 10, 2023 at the Story Memorial Presbyterian Church in Marion with Rev. Edwin H. Olson, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at McDowell Memorial Park with her grandchildren serving as pallbearers.
