

Ted Walton Saulman Sr., 76, of Morganton passed away Friday, April 29, 2011 at Burke Hospice and Palliative Care. He was born the son of the late Robert Garfield and Donnie Mace Saulman on July 8th 1934 in Burke County. Ted was of the Baptist Faith, and after his retirement from Huffman Hosiery Mill, he enjoyed fishing, boating, hunting and working on cars. Ted’s favorite hobby was making homemade walking sticks. Ted was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be greatly missed.
In addition to his parents, Ted is preceded in death by a sister Carolyn Saulman Reep.
Those left behind to cherish Ted’s memory include his wife of years 57 years Jewel Denny Saulman of the home; two sons, Robert Douglas Saulman and Ted Walton Saulman Jr. both of Morganton; a sister Evelyn S. Freeman of Charlotte; grandchildren Holly Saulman and Rebecca S. Wood; and great grandchildren Ethan Tyler Digh, Landon Wood, Trenton Baker and Taylor Baker. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends Sunday, May 1, 2011 from 2:00 to 3:00PM at Burkemont Baptist Church.
The funeral services will be held Sunday, May 1, 2011 at 3:00PM at Burkemont Baptist Church with Dr. David Mills and Reverend Eddy Bunton officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.
