Vivian was born on June 16, 1941, and was a resident of Morganton, North Carolina.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded by her late husband, Kenneth Ray Murray; her brother, Mac Amos; and her sister, Joyce Jones. She is also preceded by her beloved nephew, Harold Ray "Skip" Waters; and niece, Anita Bain.
Those left to cherish her memory include her great niece, Lauren Bain (Husband, David); great nephew, Evan Bain (Meagan); and her nephew-in-law, John Bain.
Vivian was full of energy and love, and she never met a stranger. Her years of working with Ken at Kentucky Finance were marked by not only her attention to detail but by how much she sincerely cared about their customers- always knowing their names and remembering what was going on with their families. Ken’s golfing buddies called her “Radio” because she liked to talk and could talk to anyone! In retirement, she volunteered at the hospital and the museum and was widely known for compiling the “50 Years Ago in Burke County” column for the paper. She was known for her love for her family, her church and its members, and her joy of being with people but her special love for Skip and Anita was matched only by her love for Anita’s children, Lauren and Evan.
Vivian’s family is especially grateful to the folks at Grace Ridge who have cared for her so lovingly the past few years.
A memorial service will be held at North Morganton United Methodist Church in Morganton on April 6th, 2026 at 11am.
