William (Bill) Louis Conley Jr. passed away peacefully at home on February 25, 2024. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Alice Kathleen Conley. February 28, 2024 was their 65th wedding anniversary.
Bill was born in Morganton, NC and attended Olive Hill High School. He retired from Sherrill Furniture. Being a man who loved to work, he went back to work after retirement at Food Lion until he was 85 years old. He loved fishing, being outdoors, planning and planting a garden every year. Bill was a winemaker - he loved having wine tastings at his wine “studio”. Bill loved tinkering with lawnmowers and small equipment. He baked cakes and pies. He loved a good joke and getting a good one in on you. He did not have a list of degrees, accolades or public accomplishments – but he was a giant of a man, a good man within a simple life. “The only measure of your worth and your deeds will be the love you leave behind when you're gone.” Fred Small.
Surviving Bill with broken hearts and endless love: His remaining sibling, Jean Carter and husband Robert; daughter, Benita Pennick and husband Ronald; daughter, Billie Conley; his grandchildren - Ana, Matthew, Chase and Kelsey; nephew, Travis, wife Carmen and grandniece, Amelia; nephew Prentiss and partner Alena; niece Olivia and children; his bonus daughters - Janice Hunter, Sheila Avery and Daphne Ervin.
