William Alexander Roper

Mr. William “Bud” Alexander Roper, age 81, of Morganton went home to be with the lord, on Sunday February 24, 2013 at Grace Hospital. He was born on October 3, 1931 to the late Willie Arthur and Minnie Pearl Duckworth Roper. Bud was a member of Missionary Ridge Baptist Church and served his country honorably in the US Air Force. He also was an avid fast pitch softball player and was a Nascar race fan.

Those left behind to cherish Bud’s memory include his wife of 59 years, Pauline Huffman Roper of the home, one daughter, Vickie Shell and her husband Richard of Morganton; one sister, Martha Helms of Drexel; two grandchildren, Christopher Shell and wife Lynn of Morganton and Dawn Shell and her Fiancé, Dee Byrd of Dallas Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday February 27, 2013 at Missionary Ridge Baptist Church with Rev. Al Tinnin and Rev. Donald Lovelace. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 26, 2013 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Kirksey Funeral Home.
