Barbara Jean Sutton, age 84, of Morristown, TN went to be with the Lord and Savior, peacefully at her home on Saturday, May 17, 2025 after a long and courageous battle of Alzheimer’s, with her family by her side. She was born on April 12, 1941, in Hancock County, Tennessee, the youngest of Henley and Della Perry. Barbara was saved and baptized at a young age at Brewer’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.
In September 1967, she moved her church membership to Thankful Missionary Baptist Church and remained a faithful member. She was a loving and devoted Mother to her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Howard Sutton; her parents Henley and Della Perry; brother: Chester Perry; and sister Goldie Collingsworth; father and mother-in-law Dewey and Tavie Sutton; brothers-in-law Lee Roy and Troy Sutton.
Barbara leaves behind: son Rick (Jennifer) Sutton; daughter Rita (Eric) Wright; granddaughters Allyson (Travis) Wice and Ashlyn (Austin) Pridemore. Also, two special great-grandchildren: Charlie and Boone Wice. Step Granddaughters: Molley and Taylor Wright. Brother Howard Perry; Brother-in-law Dayton (Julia) Sutton; Sister-in-law Imogene (James) Mabe; sister-in-law Wanda (EJ) Stanifer; and several nephews, nieces, cousins and great friends.
The family is grateful for Amedisys Hospice, Sherry Manning and Pam Kyle that went above and beyond to love and care for her in her final days.
A visitation for Barbara will be held Tuesday, May 20, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Stubblefield Funeral Home with the Funeral Service to follow at 7:00 PM. A graveside service will occur Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Hamblen Memory Gardens.
