

He was retired Asst. Chief of Police from Morristown City Police Dept. Jr. served 42 years with the Morristown City Police Dept which is the longest service by a police officer with Morristown Police Dept. Jr. was the 1st motorcycle patrolman for Morristown City Police Dept. He served in the Air Force prior to going to work for Morristown Police Dept. At one time he and his 3 brothers were all law enforcement officers in the Lakeway Area with Jr. being with Morristown City Police, Newman being with Morristown City Police, Aaron (Iney) being with Hamblen County Sheriff’s Dept., and Sterling being with TN Highway Patrol. Jr. was very proud to have served and protected the citizens of Morristown for over 42 years. Jr. was also very proud that he was raised in the coal mining town of Lynch, KY. Jr. loved cars especially antique cars and was always willing to “make a deal”. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Trent; his mother, Ella Byrd Trent; his brother, Aaron (Iney) Trent; and his daughter, Eugenia Trent. He is survived by his wife, Lena Bowlin Trent; son, Chris Trent; son, Terry Costner and his wife, Catherine Sandifer Costner; daughter, Cyndi Trent Doty and her husband, Thomas Doty; son, Mark Trent; and son, Troy Trent; granddaughter, Kristi Trent and her husband, Allen Fox; great-grandson, Kaiden Fox; and great granddaughter, Rylea Fox; brother, Sterling Trent, and wife, Ella; brother, Newman Trent and wife, Lucille; sister, Faye Trent Castle and husband, Phillip; and sister-in-law, Sue Trent; along with several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 pm Tuesday, Sept. 16 at Stubblefield Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at Hamblen Memory Gardens at 1030 am Wednesday with the Rev. Ross Woody officiating. Morristown Police/Hamblen County Sheriff’s Dept. Honor Guard will be conducting Honor services and last call. Arrangements by Stubblefield Funeral Home in Morristown.
