Gene Franklin Jeffers

Gene Franklin Jeffers, age 77, of Bulls Gap, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 8, 2015 at his residence. He was a member of Shady Grove Freewill Baptist Church and was employed by Berkline for 40 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob Franklin and Pearl Frye Jeffers; sisters, Patricia Jeffers, Mildred Jeffers, Pauline Cox, Lucille Ferris and Margie Blake; and nephew, Michael Everhart. Survivors include his wife, Dema Bradley Jeffers; sons, Randy (Vicki) Jeffers, Craig Jeffers, Scott (Jamie) Jeffers; daughter, Jennifer Jeffers (Mark) Cowan; grandchildren, Kira Jeffers (Jarod) Harrell, Lance (Amy) Jeffers, Reagan Jeffers, Jorden (Joe) Brady, Danielle Baird, Alexie Cowan and Zander Cowan; great-grandchildren, Landon Jeffers, Lilla and Canyon Harrell, and Ellie, Liam and Carter Brady; sisters, Voreta Jeffers, Jackie Everhart and Shirley Jeffers; brothers-in-law, Leonard (Georgia) Bradley, Boyce (Dawn) Bradley, and Alton (Marjorie) Bradley; sister-in-law, Mary (Joe) Snapp; special friends, Tom and Nancy Hipshire, Gordell and Karlene Ely, Irene Burkart, and Barbara Frye; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Stubblefield Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at 8:00 p.m. with Rev. Donnie Myers officiating. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. to go in procession to Mount Sinai UM Cemetery for a 2:00 p.m. graveside service. Pallbearers will be: Randy Jeffers, Craig Jeffers, Scott Jeffers, Lance Jeffers, Jarod Harrell, Mark Cowan, Andy Hipshire, and Bob Turley. Honorary pallbearers will be: Leonard Bradley, Boyce Bradley, Alton Bradley, Joe Snapp, Tom Hipshire, Gordell Ely, Jack Story, and John Hodge. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the services. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Amedisys Hospice of Morristown and the staff of Bulls Gap Drug Store. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Fellowship Hall Building Fund at Shady Grove Freewill Baptist Church. Stubblefield Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
