Gerrie was saved at a young age and was a member of First Baptist Church. She was also, by all accounts, one of the loudest sports moms in all of Hamblen County and the surrounding areas in the 1980s and 1990s—showing, in her own unmistakable way, how fully she cherished her family and stood behind them.
She was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband, Charles Vernon Stansberry; her parents, Ralph and Opal Legg, and her sister, Bettie Holt.
She is survived by her son, Chuck Stansberry (Julie); her daughter, April Purkey (Bryan); her grandchildren; Bryson, Kristen, Ian and Megan; her sister-in-law, Carol Wilder; several nieces and nephews; and her sweet careteam that she lovingly referred to as her LifeCare grandkids; Ashley, Taylor, Madison, Corey, Sherry, Valerie and several others.
The family would like to thank the staff at LifeCare of Morristown for the incredible love and care they showed "Grandma" during her time there.
