Helen Moore Coward, of Bulls Gap, born May 3, 1929, died Saturday, October 3, 2020. Now I write my own obituary. I was a member of First United Methodist Church in Bulls Gap, but the past few years I attended First Baptist Church in Church Hill. I died peacefully at home. I was preceded in death by my dear husband of 61 years Walter (Paddle) Coward; my parents, Otis and Nell Moore; sister, Louise Lindenwood and brother, James (Jim) Moore.
I am survived by my daughter, Rebecca Ann Coward Buchanan of Rogersville; grandson, Shane (Gabrielle) Buchanan of Church Hill; granddaughters, Shana Lynn Buchanan, Alesha (Mike Miskus) Buchanan of Bulls Gap; great grandsons, Brayden and Brinley Buchanan of Church Hill; Anna Kate (Miskus) Buchanan of Bulls Gap; brother, Glen (Patsy) Moore of Greeneville; and special friend Betty Norton of Rogersville; two nephews, Jarrell and Danny Moore; and several other nieces and nephews.
I was born and grew up in Bulls Gap, graduated from Bulls Gap High School in 1947, worked at TVA John Sevier Plant for 18 years and Bulls Gap Bank for 13 years when I retired in 1992. After retirement I worked at Wal-Mart in Morristown for 15 years. But it was my time to go and I plan to stand at the pearly gates with nothing but trust in God. I have no revenge or grudges for I know you must love all. I am sorry to leave my dear family and friends but wait patiently to be reunited in Heaven. I only hope that Jesus will smile when he calls my name.
The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, October 6, 2020, in the chapel of Stubblefield Funeral Home prior to the service at 2p.m. with Reverends Richard Long and Gary Gerhardt officiating. The internment service will follow in Hamblen Memory Gardens.
