John Edward Hodge, age 85, went to be with the Lord at his home in Morristown Wednesday, December 25, 2024, after a lengthy illness. He was a veteran of the US Army. He worked as a bread man for almost 40 years with most of his career with Kerns. He was saved at 47 at Parkway Baptist Church where he was a member and served for 28 years as church treasurer.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Thomas and Ruth Hodge of Rutledge, brother, Raymond Hodge and sister, Katherine Brantley.
John is survived by his wife of 54 years, Woneta Hodge, sons: Scott (Jamie) Hodge and John Mark (Amber) Hodge; daughter: Sonya (Blu) Evans; sister Bertie Howerton; grandchildren: Dallan, Addison and Allie Hodge and Ava Evans and many other dear family members.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Caris Hospice.
Visitation will be held on Monday, Dec. 30, 2024 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Stubblefield Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 with Rev. Mike Elkins officiating. Family and friends will gather in Hamblen Memory Gardens on Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2024 at 11:00 am for graveside services. Pallbearers will be Dallan Hodge, Thomas Evans, Larry Howerton, Earl Watson, Josh Long and Jamie Fowler.
