

Margaret Ann Taylor Barnes, age 72, of Whitesburg, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 29, 2022. She was born in Bulls Gap on May 30, 1949. She grew up in Bulls Gap and graduated from Bulls Gap High School. She married the love of her life, Jimmy Barnes, on July 24, 1967. Margaret was a devoted wife and mother, who worked various jobs outside of the home. Margaret was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary #5266 of Morristown and the Order of the Eastern Star #471 of Bulls Gap. She was a devout Christian and an active member at Robertson Creek Baptist Church of Bulls Gap. Margaret cared deeply for her family, friends and neighbors. She would go out of her way to help others. She loved to cook, read her Bible and spend time with her family. She especially loved being a Mamaw.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Barnes; an infant son; parents, Alfred Taylor Sr and Sylvia Jones; sister, Ruby; and brothers, Lowell, Alfred Jr and Bill.
She is survived by her son, Steve (Heather) Barnes; grandchildren, Sawyer and Mia of Kingsport; aunt, Lois Bernard; sister-in-law, Diana Taylor; brother-in-law, Earl Barnes; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends in the Chapel of Stubblefield Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Scott Farmer officiating. Eastern Star #471 of Bulls Gap will conduct a ceremony prior to the funeral service. Family and friends will meet in Speedwell Cemetery on Thursday at 12:45 p.m. for a 1:00 p.m. graveside service.
