

Our beloved, Phyllis, went to be with her Lord and Savior after her long battle with cancer on January 16, 2026 surrounded by those who loved her most. Her family was her purpose for living. Anyone who knew Phyllis knew how special she was. She spent her life helping others – offering love, kindness, sharing her faith and support whenever it was needed most. Her smile would light up the room.
She was proceeded in death by her father Rev. Garnie (Mae Wolfe) Bell, first husband Wiley G Helton, second husband Gerald (Bud) Bise and father of Pollie, son Rev. Wiley Dale Helton, brother Rev. Garrett (Carolyn) Bell.
Survived by her guardian angel, Pollie (John) Brandon, grandsons Hunter and Jackson Brandon who felt like her own children, granddaughters Haley (James) Marshall, Casey Helton, Deanna (Gill) Velarde, husband Buddy R Cox, and a loving sister Lorine (John) Taylor. Special nephews Tony (Lisa) Bell, Denny (Kim) Buchanan, and many friends. She is also survived by loving granddogs whom she adored Echo, Olive, Dolly, and Chewie.
She worked at Lea-Wayne Knitting Mills, Hurd Lock, Magnavox, Mason-Dixon, and she retired from Mahle. Officiating the ceremony will be her former pastor from Kingsport, Rev. Steve Ray and Rev. Alan Lamb of her home church Holt’s Baptist Church.
The family would like to thank Morristown-Hamblen Hospital and Gentiva Hospice for taking exceptional care of Phyllis.
The family will gather at Stubblefield Funeral Home Monday, January 19th from 4-6PM for visitation with the Funeral service to follow at 6PM with Rev. Steve Ray and Rev. Alan Lamb officiating. The graveside service will be held Tuesday, January 20th at Carpenter Chapel Church Cemetery at 11AM.
