Easter Vivian Coombs was born on March 23, 1913 (which was Easter Sunday that year) to John and Electa (Garner) Richardson in Manhattan, Montana. She passed peacefully away on July 19, 2008 in Morton, WA.
Vivian grew up in Montana and graduated from Beauty College in Bozeman, Montana. She owned a beauty shop in Manhattan, Montana. Vivian married Fred Coombs, who worked for the railroad, and moved with him to Washington in 1980. Fred passed away in 1993 in Centralia and after the flood of 1996, Vivian moved to Onalaska, WA to live near family. Two years ago, Vivian moved to Heritage House in Morton where she stayed active and happy.
Vivian was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church of Onalaska, the Order of Eastern Star, and the Northwest Friesian Horse Club. She was an accomplished and amazing seamstress, with the ability to sew the most difficult items of clothing for her family. She had a “green thumb” and could grow anything.
True to her loving and generous nature, Vivian touched people’s lives without ever asking for anything in return. She leaves with her family and friends many stories, life lessons, and gifts of compassion. Whether one knew Vivian for decades or for minutes, she had the ability to bond and always gave a part of her heart to others, which made her so unique.
Vivian will be lovingly remembered by her daughters: Pamela (Leo) Zylstra, Onalaska, and Nita “Rusty” Shaddock, Peoria, Arizona, her sisters: Carol and Leva Thompson, Bozeman, MT, and her brother Wayne, Kalispell, MT. Vivian will be missed as well by her four grandchildren and four great- grandchildren.
Preceding Vivian in death were her parents, her husband, her brother Joe Richardson, and her sisters: Ruth Imeson, Fair Reump, and Alma Dennis.
Vivian’s final resting place is at the Salkum Cemetery, Salkum, WA. Arrangements were under the care of Brown Mortuary Service, Morton, WA.
