

She was born on January 5, 1939 in Westlake, LA but has been living in Moss Bluff since 1982. Doris loved to bowl and was on several leagues, and enjoyed spending time with her family. In her earlier years, she was a Blue Bird leader, then became a Campfire Girls leader. She was involved in WMU and other various lady bible study groups. She was a faithful member of Gateway Church of God and was a former member of Twelfth Street Baptist Church.
She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 58 years, Jimmy Ferguson; one daughter, Janet Briley; granddaughter, Rebecca Briley; three great grandchildren, Ellie, James, and Logan, all of Moss Bluff; sister, Loretta Jones of Lake Charles; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Horace Price and Mazie Price Rue; sister, Virginia Gaspard; her step father, Aubrey Rue; in laws, Cary and Emma Ferguson, and Edna Ferguson.
Services will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at Hixson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff with Dr. Don Johnson officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 from 5:00-8:00pm and will resume on Thursday, from 9:00am until the service. Burial will follow at New Ritchie Cemetery in Moss Bluff.
