Doris Jean Latham, 82 of Moss Bluff, LA went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 15, 2018. She will be best remembered for the love and care she bestowed on those around her. She was a devoted wife, affectionate mother, adoring grandmother, great-grandmother and a loyal friend to many. Doris was a devout lifelong Catholic at St. Theodore Catholic Church where she was a member of the choir. She held a deep love for the Lord, and instilled this upon her children and ever growing family.
Doris was born August 19, 1935, in Matagorda County, TX to Joseph and Katie Hahn. She graduated from Tidehaven High School in El Maton, TX, and soon after, met the love of her life Doc, marrying in 1956 and began raising their two children. In 1966 they moved to Moss Bluff, LA where the most joyous times of her life were spent with her family, traveling, and taking leisurely trips with Doc to the casino. As a gifted cake decorator and seamstress she poured her love into every project for her beloved family and friends. Her heart and home were always open, often welcoming her five nephews and a niece for the summers.
Doris will be greatly missed by her beloved husband of 61 years, William “Doc” Latham; one daughter Sherry Latham Livingston & husband Mike of Moss Bluff; a brother, Charles Hahn (Franny) of Bay City, TX; two sisters, Evelyn Hahn Topham of Keller, TX, Elaine Hahn Alexander (Roger) of Wharton TX; daughter in-law Jean Latham Barker, five grandchildren, Buck Livingston (Lacy), Laura Livingston Parker (Lenny), Allison Livingston, Michael Livingston and Patrick Latham; and four great-grandsons, a sister in-law; Faye Winters (Leo) and many treasured nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, a son; Kelly Duane Latham, two brothers; James Hahn and Joseph Hahn.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 18, 2018 from 5pm to 8pm, with a rosary to be prayed at 6:30pm at Hixson Funeral Home in Moss Bluff. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Theodore Catholic Church on Monday, March 19, 2018 at 12pm with graveside services to follow at Old Ritchie Cemetery. The family wants to express their sincere gratitude to her devoted primary care giver and friend, Penny Davis and also to Lisa Floyd, Skylar Ewing, Arlissa Byers and Neicole Trahan.
