

James was born December 2, 1944 in Detroit, Michigan and lived in Moss Bluff. He was a graduate of Clarenceville High School in Lavonia, MI in 1963 and a graduate of Dallas Bible College. He was captain of his football team. He was an officer of the Dixie Youth Baseball, American Legion Baseball and coached. He was also a coach for the Moss Bluff recreation basketball. He was a member of the Chamber of Commerce of Huntsville, AL and served in the United States Coast Guard. James was a manager in the trucking industry and worked in trucking for 43 years. He was employed at Material Delivery Services in Sulphur. He was a member of Moss Bluff Bible Church where he served as Elder, Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. He loved Southern Gospel Music.
He is survived by his wife of almost 45 years, Brenda Harrison Woodhouse; children, Jennifer Rubrecht and husband, Mike of Lake Charles, Jeremy Woodhouse and wife, Kim of Colorado Springs, CO, Jessica Baggett and husband, Stephen of Birmingham, AL and Jared Woodhouse and wife, Tiffany of Lake Charles; brother, Don Knapp of Kernersville, NC; grandchildren, Brittany and Josue’ Lazada, Autumn Jones, Brad Jones, Connor Rubrecht, Zac Rubrecht, Joshua Woodhouse, Kayla Woodhouse, Ethan Baggett, Claire Baggett, Landon Woodhouse, Addison Woodhouse and Logan Woodhouse.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Helen Woodhouse; brother, Jerry Knapp.
His funeral service will be 2pm, Saturday, August 3, 2013 at Moss Bluff Bible Church. Rev. Ed Rose and Rev. Jeremy Woodhouse will officiate. Visitation will begin Friday 5pm-9pm at Hixson Funeral Home, 150 Bruce Circle, Moss Bluff, LA and resume Saturday, 12noon until service time at the Moss Bluff Bible Church.
