Jesse Clifton Canter Jr., age 76, of Lake Charles, Louisiana passed away on Thursday, October 6, 2022 surrounded by his loving family after his three year battle with cancer. Jesse was born March 18, 1946 to Jesse Canter, Sr. and Evelyn Burrows Canter.
Jesse was a lifelong resident of Moss Bluff where he was a parishioner of St. Theodore Catholic Church. He was a long time truck driver and construction worker. Jesse will be most remembered by his beautiful yard he maintained, his love of cajun music and spending time with his family.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 57 years, Joyce Canter of Moss Bluff; children, Todd Canter (Rebekah) of Richlands, NC., Scott Canter (Joanna) of Lake Charles, Chad Canter (Jenny) of Sulphur, and Jessica McDonald (Casey) of Kinder; 11 grandchildren; one great grandchild; and his beloved dog, Millie.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Gail Manuel.
The family will welcome relatives and friends at Hixson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff on Monday, October 10, 2022 beginning at 9:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. when a Liturgy of the Word will be held in the funeral home officiated by the Rev. Aubrey Guilbeau of St. Theodore Catholic Church. A rosary will be prayed at 12:00 p.m. Burial will be immediately following at New Ritchie Cemetery.
The family would like to give many thanks and appreciation to all the friends and family who showed love, compassion and support during this difficult time. A heartfelt thanks to the staff and nurses of Harbor Hospice of Lake Charles.
