Johnny was a native of Reeves, LA. Where he graduated from Reeves High School in the year 1962. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, traveling, canning, and making sausage. Johnny loved having friends and family always around him. Johnny's favorite time of the year was Thanksgiving when he would go on hunting trips with Mike Richard.
Johnny was the son of the late A.M. (Buck) and Georgiana Norwood. He is preceded in death by four brothers, Floyd, Marvin, Grady, and Robert Norwood. He was met at the pearly gates with open arms by his grandson, Bryce Norwood and great grandson Koby Keever.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Paula Buller Norwood; and six children, Jhonna Stutes and husband Robbie, Dean Norwood and wife Alicia, Lori Breaux and husband Jeremy, Donald Chance, James Chance, Robin Hamilton, and son-in-law, Gabe Hamilton;
12 grandchildren, Nikki Shultz and husband Chad, Jessica Keever and husband Keenan, Nicholas Ross and wife Kaylie, Clint Ross, Bailey Ross and significant other Shawn McCreary, Thomas Ross and wife Katrina, Zachary Norwood and wife Haley, J.P. Stutes, Walker Hamilton, Mia Norwood, Cayden Breaux, Jace Breaux, and Mattie Hamilton.
12 great grandchildren, Ian, Avery, Kiley, Owen and Mason Shultz, Charlee Keever, Stella, Maddison, Nixon, Maci, Harrison, and Hudson Ross;
11 siblings, Barbara Jean Reeves, Dozie Cottingin, Lilly Norwood, George Norwood, Danny Norwood, Kathy Craft, Shirley Sliman, Clada Zimmerman, Bonnie Wier, Tan Norwood and Reina Norwood and a host of nieces and nephews.
Following graduation from Reeves High School, Johnny began employment with Firestone where he retired.
Johnny became a Master Mason on January 23, 1987, at Westlake Masonic Lodge, in Westlake, LA. He is a past master of Westlake Lodge No. 443, Little Flock Lodge No. 236, and Magnolia Masonic Lodge No. 238. Johnny was also a York Rite Mason and Shriner.
Anyone that knew Johnny would know that he was a faithful Baptist and a man of faith as he practiced his Christian Faith everyday.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 4, 2020 beginning at 10:00am at Hixson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff until the time the procession leaves for the cemetery. A procession will leave the funeral home at approximately 12:45pm on Friday with a graveside service being held at 1:00pm at Old Ritchie Cemetery in Moss Bluff. The Reverend Rod Buller will officiate at the graveside service.
