Staff Sergeant, E-5, John served his country from 1961 to 1967 with the United States Air Force Reserve. His work career included Hobbs Bonded Fibers in Goesbeck, Texas from 1973 to 1990, and International Muffler Company (IMCO) in Schulenburg Texas from 1991 to 2008. John loved his family farm in Komensky Texas, his wife of 59 years, two children and his grandchildren.
John is survived by his wife, Charly Ann Motal; son Michael J. Motal of Austin, Texas; and daughter Michelle Motal Trammell of Tyler, Texas; sister Lydia Claybrook of California; grandchildren Lee Trammell, Sean Trammell (Erica), Rachel Trammell and Katherine Trammell. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who knew him as Uncle Johnny or Uncle I.J.
John was preceded in death by father Adolph and mother Konstantina; brothers Theo Motal, Benjamin Motal, George Motal, Adolf Motal and Jerry Motal.
A visitation for John will be held Thursday, December 17, 2020 from 8:45 AM to 9:30 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Praha, Texas. Rosary will start at 9:30 AM and funeral mass will follow at 10:00 AM. Burial will occur at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Praha, Texas.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Moulton Fire Department or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
