Stan Triplett passed away on February 2, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of strength, service, creativity, and deep devotion to family. He was born on August 21, 1953, in Kearny, New Jersey, to the late Burl and Sue Triplett.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Joanne, whose love and partnership were the foundation of his life. He also leaves behind two daughters, Desirae (Randy) and Danielle (Eric), and two grandchildren, Logan and Isaiah, who were the light of his life. A loving and involved grandfather, he was always helping with the grandkids and believed strongly in leading by example. He is also survived by step mother, Melba and a host of nieces and nephews, as well as many students and friends who became family. He is pre-deceased by his step-father Nino.
A lifelong martial artist, Stan dedicated his life to the study, philosophy, and teaching of the martial arts. He held a 10th-degree black belt in Ninga Isshinryu and the Angelic System and was an inducted member of both the World Karate Union Hall of Fame and the Sokeship Council Hall of Fame. Owning his own storefront allowed him to share the martial art system he developed, Phoenix Ninpo Ryu. He was a proud member of the International Circle of Masters and served as an administrative officer of Pyramid Training School.
His passion for helping others extended far beyond martial arts. He worked closely with the Warrior Cane Project, empowering veterans in the use of cane for self-defense. He also created the Life Directions Program, designed to help people discover purpose and find their path in life.
Outside the dojo, he enjoyed making wine and earned multiple awards for his craftsmanship. He was also deeply passionate about storytelling and authored and published a book titled “The Commoner.”
Above all, he was a husband, father, grandfather, teacher, and mentor whose influence will continue through the countless lives he touched. His legacy lives on in his family, his students, and all those he inspired to live with purpose, discipline, and heart.
