Bonita Faye “Bonnie” Sollars, 89, of Muncie, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at her residence. She was born in Muncie, IN on December 29, 1935, to Orloff Ernest and Laura Susan (Leitheiser) Shreves.
Bonnie graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1953. She attended nursing school, graduating in 1957, and went on to work for Dr. Irwin Hostetter until his passing. In 1977, Bonnie then went on to work for First Merchant’s Bank, working her way up to becoming the Secretary to the President, until her retirement in 1995. With her brother, she was involved with and helped to operate Conkle Wildlife Reserve in Randolph County, within the Red Tail Conservancy. Her aunt Mary, who was the President of the Indiana Flower and Garden Club for many years, taught Bonnie everything she knew about flowers and helped her develop her green thumb.
Bonnie is survived by her son, John Sollars; loving brother, Ben Keith Shreves; sister, Shirley Susan Crose; nieces and nephew, Dreama, Shelly, and Donnie Crose; and several other cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and aunt and uncle, Mary and Carl Conkle, of whom she cared for all throughout their lives.
