Bonnie was born in Muncie on April 30, 1922 to Ira J. and Nell (Ellis) Bird. Though she grew up an only child, she enjoyed many pleasurable times with her aunts, uncles and cousins. She also was kept busy with tap dancing and acrobatics, performing in many recitals.
Upon graduation from Muncie Central High School in 1940, Bonnie worked for a brief time at Stillman's Department Store. She later worked at Warner Gear in the Cost Department until retirement in 1972. Bonnie had many good friends she kept in touch with from her Warner Gear years.
On May 24, 1946, Bonnie married Mirl White Jr., in Muncie at Industry E.U.B. Church. She missed "Bud" for 37 ½ years, as he passed away on July 27, 1979.
Bonnie's joy was time with her family. She also enjoyed time outdoors planting flowers and watching the birds, especially hummingbirds. Bonnie enjoyed sitting on her front porch watching her neighbors and waiting for Roxie, her mail lady, so she could give a big wave.
Bonnie is survived by her family, whom she loved with "all her heart". Daughters, Jennifer J. Norris (husband Nick) and Debra K. Knuckles (husband Arthur-deceased), both of Selma; grandchildren, John R. Norris (wife Becky) and their children, J. Wyatt and Garrett R. of Gaston, Jeffrey S. Norris (wife Amanda C.) and their daughter, Leah of Piqua, Ohio; Jason G. Radke (fiancée Jennifer Grafton) Indianapolis, and Amanda (Norris) Smith (husband Josh) and their daughters, Samantha and Cassandra of Gaston. Also surviving are Mark Radke (father of Jason) Oak Creek, WI and in-laws, Doris White, Phyllis and Alonzo Lappin as well as 3 nieces and 1 nephew and several cousins.
Bonnie expressed her love to others often, and was most appreciative of the love and care given to her by those who cared for her in recent months. At the top of her list was her long time physician, Dr. Kenneth Watkins and his staff of Winchester. Bonnie received kind and gentle care at Parker Healthcare, Signature Healthcare and Indiana Homecare, who came to her home. Kindred Hospice has been most comforting to both Bonnie and her family. Bonnie developed a special fondness for Teresa Welsh her private caregiver at home.
As per Bonnie's wishes, there will be no service or visitation. Burial will be private at Elm Ridge Memorial Park, which was entrusted with arrangements. Memorials may be made to Industry United Methodist Church, 1912 S, Mock Ave., Muncie, IN 47302, where Bonnie was a member since childhood.
