Brenda Sue Slain

A passionate traveler, she loved exploring the United States, collecting memories and stories from every corner she visited. But no matter where she went, she always returned to the things that mattered most—family and friends.

In the early 1970s, she was a proud member of the Wapahani High School Band, a group that was the epitome of musical energy and unity. Her contributions to the band's success, along with her ability to bring people together, left an enduring legacy in the community.

Her baking skills were legendary, particularly her chocolate and peanut butter fudge, which became a staple at every family gathering and special occasion. More than her culinary talents, though, it was her ability to make everyone feel welcome and loved that endeared her to so many.

She also had a lifelong love of dancing. Dancing brought her joy and was one of the many ways she expressed her vibrant spirit.

Above all, she cherished her time spent with loved ones. Her home was always filled with laughter, good food, and plenty of fudge to go around. Whether hosting family gatherings or simply enjoying a quiet afternoon with friends, her presence was a gift that will be missed by all.

Brenda is survived by her son, Wesley Slain; grandchild, Ryan Slain; daughter-in-law, Sue Ann Slain; brother, Randy Slain; and Randy’s children, Jared Slain, Brooke Gallagher, William Slain and Sean Slain; along with his many grandchildren.

She was preceded in passing by her parents.

Visitation will be Saturday, October 11, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana, 47304. A funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM at Elm Ridge Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Mount Tabor Cemetery in Muncie.
