

He was born Saturday, February 19, 1944, in Muncie, the son of George Ellsworth and Ruby Mae (Carter) Minnick. David loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed woodworking and was a very skilled craftsman. He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed watching Westerns on TV. David had quite a sense of humor and liked telling jokes and being a prankster. He retired from Chevrolet in 1997 after working there for thirty years. His memberships include Local #499. Following his retirement, David worked as a driver for A1 Printing.
Survivors include his daughters, Debbie (husband, Mike) Shell and Dana (boyfriend, Doug Ogle) Shell; grandchildren, John Patterson, Chelcea Taylor, Chase Shell, and Kylie Shell; great-grandchildren, Cherish Chambers, Justin Shell, Caiden Shell, Alonna Shell, and Jadyn Hollingsworth; niece, Darlene Murphy; two nephews, Larry Minnick, and George Minnick; special cousin, Diane Delk; special friends, Henry Locke, and Gale Workman; and Debbie and Dana’s mom, Marlena Crabtree.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Ellsworth and Ruby Mae Minnick; a brother, George Leon Minnick; a nephew, Jeff Minnick; and a special friend, George Simpson.
A Memorial Service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Monday, December 28, 2020, at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana 47304 with Pastor Denny Helton officiating. Private burial at Elm Ridge Memorial Park will be at a later date.
Family and friends may call from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. Monday at Elm Ridge Funeral Home.
