David Allen Spurlock

David A. Spurlock, 54, of Muncie, passed away peacefully at I.U. Health Ball Memorial on Wednesday, December 7, 2021, surrounded with love from his family and close friend. He was in a coma due to sleep apnea and COPD, causing him to go into cardiac arrest.

David was born Thursday, January 19, 1967, the son of Robert and Virginia (Shields) Spurlock. He attended Muncie Schools. David had a gentle spirit, was shy in nature, and always seemed to enjoy life while wearing a smile on his face. He loved his animals, and he enjoyed collecting things. Some of his hobbies were riding his bike around Ball State campus, talking to Facebook friends, listening to ’70s and 80’s music, playing pool, and fishing.

David is survived by his siblings: Shirley Strong, Brenda Spurlock, Linda Spurlock, Robert Spurlock, and Sheila Nelson; two brothers-in-law, John Strong and Jeff Nelson; close friends, Rosina Keller and Mike Wilson; nieces, Trisha Keith, Deseray Coil, and Grace Adams; nephews, Larry Cole, Christopher Cox, Jean Nelson, and Brandon Nelson.

David is preceded in death by his father, Robert Spurlock, and mother, Virginia Pauline (Shields) Spurlock; one nephew, Michael Spurlock; and his service dog, Ginger.

No services are planned. Cremation will take place. Elm Ridge Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
