A woman who never knew a stranger and welcomed everyone with warmth and curiosity, she was sweet, kind, and endlessly selfless—always the first to offer a hand, a hug, or a helping word.
She carried a touch of orneriness that made her all the more charming, the sort of playful spark that kept friends laughing and family on their toes. Her sense of humor was quick and bright, a gift she shared freely and often.
For 33 years, she worked as a custodian at Ball State University, taking great pride in her work and forming many cherished friendships along the way. Her dedication, reliability, and quiet strength touched colleagues and students alike.
A lover of both sunlit shores and quiet mountain trails, she found joy in traveling to the beach and the mountains, embracing the peace and adventure each offered. In quieter moments, she curled up with a good murder mystery novel, or sat down to play a few rounds of solitaire, a simple pastime that brought her calm and contentment.
She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, laughter, and open-hearted generosity. Though she will be deeply missed, her spirit lives on in the countless lives she touched simply by being herself.
Eileen is survived by her daughters, whom she loved with her whole heart, Sally Anderson and Bernice Lewis; grandchildren, Kayla (husband, Brandon) Shawver, Allyson Lewis (partner, Jade Anacker) and Christian Lewis (partner, Melisa Drinkard); one great-grandchild; siblings, Terry Dunham, Kenneth (wife, Joann) Dunham and Charlene (husband, Gene) Roberts, close friends, Mike and Sandy Armantrout; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in passing by her parents, Kenneth and Thelma Dunham; step-father, Roy Harris; grandchild, Carey Morgan II; great-grandchild, Jayden Lewis; sister-in-law, Crystal Dunham; and son-in-law, Arthur Douglas Anderson.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Heart 2 Heart Hospice care team for their love and compassion.
