

He was born Wednesday, September 8, 1937, in Muncie, the son of Henry and Myrtle (Brooks) Lykins. Sonny loved spending time with all of his family. He never met a stranger, and enjoyed meeting people and talking with them. Sonny was an avid model rail road enthusiast and was a member of the CMRRA, Central Missouri Rail Road Association, and the Lions Club. His hobbies include playing pool, reading, and working crossword puzzles. Sonny worked for the USPS, United States Postal Service for thirty-six years.
Survivors include his son, Sonny Lykins Jr.; daughter, Lori Shantel (husband, Steven) Wise; grandchildren, Donnely William (wife, Kia) Tyler, and Jonathan Zachary Lykins; three brothers, Verle “Pee Wee” (wife, Rita) Lykins, Louis Eugene “Spike” (wife, Peggy) Lykins, and Jackie Lykins; two sisters, Alice (husband, Bob) Ross, and Sheila (husband, Ronnie) Haler; several nieces and nephews.
His parents, Henry and Myrtle Lykins; his wife, Pamela Joyce (New) Lykins; a son, Ronnie Lee Lykins; two brothers, Bill Lykins, and John Rich Lykins; and a sister, Mary Stockton preceded him in death.
Family and friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 28, 2021, at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana 47304.
Graveside services and burial will follow in Thompson Cemetery at Gaston. Veterans of Delaware County Honor Guard will conduct Military Rites following graveside services.
