James "Blue" Newport

Blue was born November 22, 1950 in Robbins, Tennessee, the son of James B. and Ada (Evans) Newport.

Blue married the love of his life, Sandra, on November 22, 1985 and together they spent 39 beautiful years together. Blue shared his life and wonderful sense of humor with everyone, but especially his family and friends. He was always young at heart and loved teasing and playing with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting and fishing, and was an avid race car fan.

Blue touched many lives and will be remembered by everyone who knew him. He lived his life full of love, laughter and joy and will be missed more than words can express. Blue always valued and loved his family, friends and grandchildren.

Blue is survived by his wife, Sandra; sisters, Joan (Bill) Tom, Barbra Newport and Patricia Newport; brother, Joe (Vicky) Newport; children, Robert (Mollie) Newport, Kerry Kelsey (deceased) wife Lisa, Kim Drury and Kevin (Donna) Jessee; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

He was preceded in passing by his parents; sisters, Amy Newport and Charlotte Newport.

Visitation will be Thursday, February 20, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana, 47304, with a funeral service beginning at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at Elm Ridge Memorial Park.
