Jeffery Allen “Jeff” Pormen, 34, went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 4, 2025, at his residence, surrounded by his family. Jeff was born at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, Indiana to Fred and Vanessa Pormen on July 7, 1990.
Jeff graduated from Muncie Southside High School in 2009. During his time at Southside, he ran cross-country, wrestled, and played football. His first job was AZZ where he worked for a short time, with his father. Jeff then pursued a college degree in construction management and graduated from Ball State University in 2016. He went on to achieve his dream job as Assistant Superintendent/Project Engineer at Signature Construction.
Jeff enjoyed traveling; he visited New York City, Wyoming, the Grand Canyon, Florida, Chicago, Jamaica, Cancun, the Dominican Republic, Las Vegas, and Nashville where he got to live for a few years. His favorite place to vacation was Alabama; he loved to go to the race at Talladega with his dad, friends, and family. Jeff found so much joy in boating and even remodeled his own boat. He spent lots of time on the water with family and friends. Jeff loved attending concerts and got the chance to go to so many; he even took his parents to see Kid Rock. He loved to attend the Indianapolis Colts and Pacers games; he loved his Indiana teams.
Jeff’s greatest joy of all was his nieces and nephew; he wasn’t known as Jeff to them, he was Big Bubba. He never missed a school function, baseball game, dance recital, or volleyball game; if they asked him to attend, he was always there. He always made it to all of their birthday parties and participated in all the fun. Jeff also really looked up to his Uncle George; he always gave Jeff the best advice whether it be about a car, boat, or his home. Uncle George made several trips to Nashville with Jeff, and they always had a great time together.
Jeff got engaged to the love of his life, Cylisha, on July 6, 2024. He considered her his rock throughout all of his trials and tribulations. He cherished their time together, whether they were watching scary movies, going on dates, or just hanging out.
Jeff never met a stranger and left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He wanted to make sure everyone was always having a good time. His huge smile, big hugs, and caring heart will be missed by all.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Jeff’s hospice team, Brianne, Bethany, and Elizabeth who took such great care of him.
Jeff is survived by his parents, Fred and Vanessa Pormen; sister, Ashley Pormen; nieces, Alhazia and Amilia; nephew, Kadin; and his fiancé, Cylisha Steinhall. He had so many special people in his world; a few of his favorites were Ciara Ogle, Terry Ogle, Brittany Dyer, and Austin Carrier.
He is preceded in death by his grandmas Mona Petty and Mildred Pormen; grandpa, Carroll “Bud” Pormen; uncles, Dale Dyer, Keith Dyer, Charles Morgan, and Don Morgan; aunt, Marsha Crose; special friend, Ben Eley.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 3 pm, at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 W. Kilgore Ave., Muncie, IN 47304, with Chaplain Mike Peoples officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 1 pm until the time of the service, on Saturday, at the funeral home.
