Joseph Wayne Hutchison, 87, Muncie, passed away Saturday afternoon, September 24, 2022, at I U Health Ball Memorial Hospital. He was born Saturday, January 5, 1935, in Oakville, the son of William Elbert and Lena Mae (Plue) Hutchison. Joe graduated from Cowan High School. He joined the Indiana Air National Guard at seventeen years old. Joe honorably served his country in the United States Army from 1957 until 1959. He completed his Basic Training in Fort Benning, Georgia and spent the rest of his duty in Germany. He was able to go to the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France and went to the World’s Fair in Brussels, Belgium. Joe retired in 1992 from Borg Warner after thirty-nine years. He was an active member of many clubs throughout the state. He loved to travel, Joe and Paulette got to go to all of the lower forty-eight states. His favorite trip was to the Space Needle in Seattle, Washington. Joe and Paulette shared many great times together. They were married on July 17, 1998. Survivors include his wife, Paulette (Flick) Hutchison; daughter, Cristeena Collins; sons, Steve (Terri) Hutchison, Charles Hutchison, and Jason Wright; grandchildren, Stephanie (Brad) Hutchison, Devyn (Lauren) Wright, and Colten (Micah) Wright; sisters-in-law, Kay Flick, Jenny Runion, and Mary Jane Flick; and many special nieces, nephews, and friends. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 29, 2022, at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana 47304 with Chaplain Kevin Bockus officiating. Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Memorial Park with Military Rites conducted by Veterans of Delaware County Honor Guard. Family and friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Elm Ridge Funeral Home. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at elmridgefuneralhome.com for the family.
