Juvia "Jean" I. Koons

She was born December 3, 1935, in Muncie, the daughter of Dwight and Ilah (Baxla) Hines.

In her free time, Jean enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, sitting on her porch watching the birds and squirrels, and camping; but most of all, she loved traveling with her longtime companion, Kenneth.

She was a very active member of church where she would help cook and loved to host church functions in her home. She took pride in her home and entertaining guests.

Jean is survived by her two children, Garry (Maria) Craig and Kelly (Gary) Keesling; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a special niece, Kim Burns; and a special nephew, Dean Keppler.

She was preceded in passing by her parents; her loving companion of twenty-five years, Kenneth Lewis; and two sisters, Joann Holland and Kay Gill.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Muncie Estates for the love and compassion shown to Jean.

A funeral service for Jean will be 1:00 PM, Friday, June 6, 2025, at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana, 47304. Family and friends may gather from 12:00 PM to 1:00PM on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Elm Ridge Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Muncie Delaware County Senior Center, 2517 W. 8th Street, Muncie, IN 47302.
