L. Frances (Scott) Rutledge

Frances was born on January 7, 1926, in Salamonia, IN to Walter and Mayme (Smiley) Matchett. She is survived by her three children, Carol Rainey (Phillip) Yorktown, IN, Jeanne Townsend (Steven) Fort Wayne, IN, Mark Rutledge (Jacqueline), Syracuse, IN; grandchildren, Chad Townsend (Jennifer ), Shawna Atkins (Mathew), Nicki Hockenberry (Brian), Holly Privett (Fred), Michael Rutledge (Sofie); daughter-in-law, Jean Rutledge; eleven great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Oshel Rutledge, and her second husband, Thomas Scott; brothers, Lewis Matchett, Robert Matchett, Myron Matchett, Elbert Matchett, James Matchett; and sisters, Janet Matchett, Inez Kunkle, and Edith St. John.

The family would like to thank the entire staff at Cedar Creek (Lynd Place), in Muncie, Indiana, and Genova Hospice for their unending care and compassion.

Frances was an avid (and very good) bowler, enjoyed cooking, loved her family fiercely, had a smile that would light up the room, and was a dear friend to so many people.

Frances was a member of Gethsemane United Methodist Church.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana 47304. Burial will follow at Elm Ridge Memorial Park.
