Leroy was born on October 5th, 1931 in Selma, Indiana and grew up in Muncie, Indiana. His work ethic started early at age 11 with a paper route. From there that work ethic continued for 75 years. Bowling alley, lumber yard, bakery, radio shop, among many others in his younger days. He left Muncie to join the military and had a glorious 23 year Naval career retiring as a Lieutenant, receiving 2 National Defense Service Medals along the way, and earning both pistol and rifle Expert Medals. Exiting the Navy, he began his lengthy 42 year Industrial “Working Man” career. Being the traveling man he was, he worked for various companies as a maintenance mechanic/tool room attendant, and never turned down the next job. His work ethic was unmatched, and he was loved by every boss he worked for. Never one to sit still, his “off” days were spent working with his hands on something. From building his own house, a golf practice area, even the one and only squirrel zapper. He also spent many a day traveling to see his grandkids and great grandkids in sports or family gatherings.
He was predeceased by his father Jesse James Buffin and his mother Effie Bays/Buffin, and his loving wife and mother of his children Ivanna (Dotson), and 13 siblings.
He is survived by his 4 children, Sue Carol (Donnie Long), David (Deleene), Beverly, and James (Connie).
7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.
He was the undeniable favorite "Uncle Leroy" to many nieces and nephews as well as many great nieces and nephews.
He is also survived by longtime companion Peggie Huffman and family.
