It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Michelle Marie Liston Rotz, on January 16, 2025. She was a devoted daughter, mother, grandmother, step-grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend. Michelle's warmth, love, and infectious smile touched everyone she met.
Born in Frankfurt, Kentucky on June 23, 1950, Michelle was the daughter of William and Emilie Liston. She grew up in Muncie surrounded by a large, loving family with 5 siblings.
Michelle graduated from Burris Laboratory High School and attended Ball State University where she earned a Bachelor's degree in Teaching. Michelle held many career positions from administrative to small business owner. An avid swimmer, she loved spending time near the water. Her favorite activity was spending time with her family, most especially her grandchildren. Her laughter, her love, and her unyielding support were a constant presence in our lives, and we will carry her spirit with us always.
Michelle is survived by her children Ben Rotz (wife-Jenn), Kiki Commons (husband-Chris), and Sara Steed (husband-Garrett); her grandchildren, Abby, Jack, Miles, and Emilie; her step-grandchildren, Amelia and Garrison; her sisters Linda Jackson and Tricia Kitchell, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings Dan Liston, Ann Pellar, and Kevin Liston; brother-in-law Dave Kitchell; and nephew Ira Liston.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date, by invitation. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in her memory.
Her love was a gift to all who knew her, and her memory will live on in the stories we share and the love we continue to give.
Rest in peace, Mom. You will be forever missed, but never forgotten.
