

Phyllis L. Johnson, age 92, passed away on Friday, April 17, 2026, at The Woodlands in Muncie. She was born on June 25, 1933, in Muncie, IN, to Maxwell B. and Evelyn O. (Baker) Clevenger. Phyllis was married to Shannon Johnson for 70 years, prior to his passing.
Graduating in 1952, Phyllis attended Harrison High School and was a tenure member of 4H. She because the manager of House of Fabrics as well as co-owner of Liberty Steel Productions. Phyllis sold commercial microwave ovens, Home Interior and Gifts, and ended her career as a Real Estate Broker, which she thrived in for 29 years before her retirement in 2015. She served as the President on the Board of Realtors twice, throughout her career.
Phyllis loved hosting Thanksgiving to “one and all”, preparing every dish and dessert. She loved Christmas and even at a very young age, she always did her best to make it special, even setting the trend of having a Christmas tree in every room of the house. Known as Philly, PJ, a “go-getter”, the “energizer bunny”, “Ms. Spunky”, strong mom and grandma, Phyllis stayed active as long as she was alive.
Phyllis is survived by her children, Jacky (Jeff) Johnson, Dale (Peg) Johnson, Dennis Johnson, and Dana (Doug) Peters; and grandchildren, Heidi (Sean) Hale, Erik (Kim) Johnson, Shelby (Casey) Alleyn, Erika (Jaimie) Macartney, Riley (Nathan) Hill, Shad (Katie) Peters, and Zachary Peters; great-grandchildren, Alec, Sarah, Adam, Patriot, Samantha, Reid, Knox, Jolie, Gracie, Lily, Everett, Josie, Caroline, and Evie; sisters, Suzanne Norris, Ann (Carol) Meyer, and Cindy (Larry) Holaday; she was also loved by many nieces, nephews, and several good friends.
She was preceded in passing by her loving husband of 70 years, Shannon; as well as her siblings, Patricia Haffner, Dee Clevenger, Darwin Clevenger, Max Eugene Clevenger, Mike Clevenger, and Janis Scott.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the Woodlands for taking such good care of Phyllis, as well as to the family and friends who visited her during her stay.
A funeral service will take place at 1 pm on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, with Pastor Carl Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Memorial Park. Friends may visit with the family from 11 am until the time of the service, on Saturday, at the funeral home.
