Randall Ray Bertram, 65, of Yorktown, passed away on Thursday, March 11, 2021. He was born Monday, March 21, 1955, in New Castle, Indiana, to Cletus and Irene (Slagle) Bertram. He graduated from Highland High School in Anderson. After graduation, he started working at General Motors, alongside his twin brother and his father. Randy dedicated forty two years to General Motors, where he was a machine operator, and most recently, a fork lift driver. He was happy to celebrate his retirement in 2016.
Randy met Debbie Wilson through a mutual friend. They married March 1, 1981, and enjoyed thirty-one years together until her passing in 2012. He was a believer in God, and loved to play old hymns on the guitar with his brother while Debbie sang. Randy had a love for traveling and insisted on vacationing out West, what he called “God’s Country,” every summer with his family. He had a love of the mountains, geography and history. He loved spoiling his dogs. He was a Dodgers fan and would never miss the opportunity to tell the story about the trip he took to LA to watch them play as a kid. He was a model train enthusiast and enjoyed showing off his home train layout. Randy was a family man and loved his children and grandchildren dearly.
Randy is survived by his mother, Irene Bertram; his son, Chris Bertram (Chelsie McGuffey); his daughter, Amanda Perkins (husband, Brian); twin brother, Daniel Bertram; grandchildren, Gabbie Perkins, Lola Sawyers, Jackson Perkins, Greyson Bertram, Trevor Bertram and Jayden McGuffey; and his beloved dog, Marley.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Debbie; and father, Cletus Bertram.
