He was born in Muncie, Indiana, on February 21, 1933, the son of Clarence and Evalynn Wagoner.
Robert served in the US Army in his youth and was a successful businessman here in Muncie. He started the first A&W Root Beer Drive-In and the first car wash. He also was successful in Texas where he owned two Taco Bells. He also enjoyed success with food trucks in Shreveport, Louisiana as well as restaurants in Denver, Colorado
He is survived by his sons, Robert (wife, Jody) Anacker, William (wife, Stacy) Anacker, and Chris (wife, Simmie) Wagoner; Son-in-law, Denny Koger; and longtime partner, Laura Hensley.
He was preceded in passing by his parents, his wife, Penny, Wagoner; brother, Buss Wagoner; sister, Shirley Groves; daughter, Elizabeth Koger; and son, Ronald Wagoner.
