William L. Shady

William L. "Bill" Shady, age 84, of Muncie, Indiana passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at Willowbend Nursing Home. Bill was born in Muncie on Sunday, August 13, 1939 to Harold and Juanita Shady. Bill graduated from Selma High School in 1958. Bill served in the United States Army from 1961 until 1963. Bill worked as Shipping and Receiving Foreman for Borg Warner for 29 years. He also worked at Pathologists Associated and Target.

Bill was a member of Old Town Hill Baptist Church in Muncie for 60 years. During that time, he was an Assistant Song Leader, Sunday School Superintendent, Deacon, member of the choir, member of the Happy Hearts, and was also involved with World Changers. He was very active in the community and served as a Wapahani Band Booster, and actively participated in Selma Little League having coached his son's baseball team to a championship win. In his free time, Bill enjoyed bowling and played in different leagues.

Bill is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sandra; daughter, Karen (Craig) Standish; son, Kris Shady; sister, Mary Arbogast; sisters-in-law, Myra Shady, and Pam (David) Painter; brother-in-law, Don Terry; six grandchildren, Nathan Bowman (Amanda), Megan Bilyeu (Justin), Caleb Standish, Nathan Shady (Bailey), Nicholas Shady, and Julia Shady; six great-grandchildren, Mya Bowman, Hailey Bowman, Jameson Bilyeu, Madelyn Bilyeu, Brookson Bilyeu, and Reagan Shady; and several nieces and nephews.

William is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Juanita Shady; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Melvin and Madelyn (Brown) Sewell; brothers, Donald (Carol) , Robert (Marge), David, and John Shady; sister, Carolyn Revis; sister-in-law, Connie Terry; and brother-in-law, Bob Sewell.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at Old Town Hill Baptist Church, 3000 South Burlington Drive, Muncie, Indiana, 47302 with Reverend Craig R. Standish officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Ridge Memorial Park.

Family and friends may call from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, November 20, 2023, or from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Old Town Hill Baptist Church.
