Hello, my Name is Brandon. I had the pleasure to serve under CPT Neusse, at the time, Instagram  Fort Polk, LA. Out in Tigerland under the 3/353rd. There would be my last stop at my time in United States Army. CPT Neusse pushed us to be great Non Commission Officers there.  He made us think critically, to make us more efficient leaders, we became a well functioning unit. Under his leadership we developed task and training that set the standard for deployment readiness. It was honestly by far my best time in the Army.  

Ben, it was a pleasure to know you and thank you so much for your dedication to our country. It was an honor! To serve beside you Sir!

To Kate and the extended Neusse Family. I am an Australian Army Officer who served with Ben in Iraq in 2018. No words do his passing and your loss justice. I am ever grateful for deploying in to a team that Ben had helped to form. His ‘off the planet’ level of intelligence and the quick wit that he partnered it with kept me on my toes from day 1. Having served alongside the best of the US in various conflict zones for twenty years, I have established a high bar for talent. Without hesitation, Ben effortlessly jumped that bar. Between his unapologetic views on how to solve the problems of the Middle East ( and I think he was right ) and his bitcoin commentary, every day was a happy education for me. I had the honor of knowing Ben when I was the Headquarters Company Commander at 1st Armored Division. He was one of the staff officers within the G5 staff section. During one field exercise in the El Paso heat, me and some Soldiers were putting up some tents and Ben comes out of nowhere and helps us. This was very odd because staff officers were not supposed to join us in the field until a day or two later. Ben, a Major at the time, said "I figured you guys could use some help so I came out early." This summarized Ben's humility and character. During my command time, I am glad to say we became good friends and I always enjoyed talking to him. I always thought he was the best example of a servant leader and an outstanding person. I'll never forget him joking with me and my Soldiers in 100 degree heat while we were putting up tents. I hope Ben and his family find peace in this difficult time, the world is definitely a darker place without him in it.

Not many people have seen or accomplished as much as you did before you were even 40.  

A biblical proverb says that you can give a man a fish and he will eat for a day but if you teach a man to fish, he will eat for a lifetime.  You took that lesson straight from the Book and put it to great use both in foreign and domestic areas.  Bringing fresh water to impoverished Middle East villages and then teaching them a means to elevate their lives is truly something to be proud of.

I thought that I had all the time in the world to tell you more... I am sorry that I did not realize you were in so much pain.

Ben, you were one of the first people I met at West Point. I remember feeling pretty down during a low moment during plebe year. And you cheered me up. I'll never forget your kindness and compassion. And I'll treasure our friendship. 

Ben, your energy and passion were boundless.  I have such fond memories of Camp Buckner because you made it fun.  Even when you got bit by a brown recluse in the field, you didn't complain.   You always wore your ranger goggles, even when not in the field, because you were always so motivated.  I loved it.  I wish I could have been there to help you with what you were going through.

I will never forget the insane cross-fit workouts you would put us thru at Ft. Polk. Ft. Polk, what a hell hole but having you and kate there made it so much better. 
At least those workout made room for all the Mexican food and pizza we would eat later. 
You had an amazing drive and passion for everything that you did and I appreciate the talks on the tools that you used to help better yourself for the goals you wanted to accomplish in life. 
Can't believe you're gone...
