

Dmitriy Makarovich Shulgan, age 73, of Murfreesboro, TN went home to be with Jesus on Monday October 2, 2017. He was born in Brest, Belarus to Makar Timofeyevich Shulgan and Anastasia Fominichna Skalkovich, on May 3, 1944. He was the second youngest of eight children. He married Lyubov Mikhailovna Radchuk on November 16, 1969 in Brest, Belarus. They went on to have 6 children together; 3 daughters and 3 sons. At 14 years old, he was a conductor of a Russian church string orchestra, where he also taught others to play various instruments. He taught Lyubov to play the guitar when she was only 8 years old. He was baptized in the summer of 1961 at 17 years old. He served 2 years in the Soviet Army before getting married. In 1965 he graduated from the Belorussian Automobile School and went on to have various driving jobs, one of which was the driver for The Railway Fire Protection Company. He enjoyed music and continued to serve in the local Russian church. He played various trumpets in the brass orchestra as well as the guitar in the string orchestra.
In January of 1992 he immigrated to the Unites States with his family. Between 1992 and 2017, he resided in Washington, Virginia, and Tennessee. The majority of that time he resided in Spokane, Washington. He was a member of Grace Slavic Baptist Church in Spokane, WA where he served by arranging musical compositions, by teaching others to play and by conducting various church orchestras. Between 1998 and 2010, he worked as a beekeeper which brought him great joy. By day he would tend the bees and by night he would write music which at times would cover more than 20 parts of a musical composition. In 2010 he had a major stroke from which he could not fully recover.
He is preceded by his father Makar and mother Anastasia; sisters Ekaterina and Lyubov; a brother Ivan; and one grandchild Yanna.
He is survived by his wife, Lyubov; a sister Vera (Pavel); brothers, Mikhail (Yevdokiya), Yevgeniy (Lidia) and Timofey (Nina); Children, Natalya (Sergey), Olga, Valeriy (Svetlana), Dmitriy, Andrey (Nataliya), Nadia (Artem); 17 grandchildren; 1 greatgrandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

Thank you for your many prayers and continuous visitation while he was in the hospital in his final days, it was a blessing and very encouraging for him and us! Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Shulgan will be held at One o’clock on the afternoon of Friday October 6, 2017 at Roselawn Funeral Home, 5350 NW Broad Street Murfreesboro, TN 37129
