Ellen Dean Brumfield

Ellen Handley Brumfield, age 64, of Smyrna, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, September 7, 2022. She was born in Murfreesboro, Tennessee to the late Jessie Handley, Sr. and JoElla Bond Handley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant sister. Ellen is survived by her husband of 22 years, Bo Brumfield of Smyrna, TN; brothers, Jessie Handley, Jr of Smyrna, TN, James Allen Handley of Babson Park, FL and John Michael Handley of New Orleans, LA; 4 nephews and a very special niece, Bethany: loving mother-in-law Georgia Brumfield of Antioch, TN; niece Lisa Castleman (husband Ben);special great nephew Zander Castleman all of Murfreesboro, TN; special cousin Lynn McCall (husband Dr. Robert D. McCall) of Cleveland, TN and numerous cousins.

Ellen retired from Bridgestone after 30 years. She was a loyal and devoted member of Local 1055L USW. Ellen was proud to be a member of The Women of Steel. As a proud Democrat, one of the highlights of Ellen's career was working on President Obama's campaign in 2008. Ellen was adventerous she loved to sky dive, white water raft, and loved NASCAR. To know Ellen was to know love, compassion, tolerance and kindness! She knew no strangers and all welcomed her into their lives. She was a strong and resilient woman and always quick with a kind word and hug and a champion to many, especially her brother Jessie. We will always miss her in our hearts, but she is pain free at last.

Services to celebrate Ellen will be at 3:30pm on Monday, September 12, 2022 at Roselawn Funeral Home with Dr. Robert D. “Bob” McCall of Cleveland, Tennessee, officiating. Friends are cordially invited to visitation also Monday from 1:30pm until the service begins. Placement will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
