Kirby was a great soldier in Hawaii and Vietnam. He served closely with his platoon leader,1LT Jose Pena, and was with him and supporting him when he was killed in action. My condolences to his family and I know Joe would appreciate me offering them on his behalf.  BG(Retired) Bob Griffin.

Kirby and I were classmates at Shelbyville Central High School and the Duke and Duchess of Success in 1964.  I was pleased to see him again at the 50th class reunion.  Kirby was charming and funny, and I think the tributes to him indicate that he was truly a success.  It was an honor to know him.

My Deep and Sincere Condolences to the Family. Kirby always had a smile, and was a very genuine soul. I, along with many other people will miss him, but, I know that he is with his maker, and is free of all worldly pains. I cannot attend services, but my heart will be there !!!!

I served with Kirby both in Hawaii and Vietnam. Although I did not know him personally,as we served in different platoons, he will always be my Bravo brother. RIP and condolences to the family.

It was an honor and a privilege to serve with Kirby in Bravo Company.

I will always remember Kirby (Dum Dum) from both our time in Hawaii as well as Vietnam.  My memories of Vietnam are sketchy so I was always amazed of how good Kirby's memories were.  I will really miss him at our reunions.  Sleep in peace my brother.

Prayers and hugs to Kirby's family.  Kirby and I served together in Vietnam and always remained "brothers".  He was a special man and will be missed.

I remember him from the reunions and to me he was a great brother and i just like listen him talk to other and me about old time. He was in another platoon then me so I didn't know him like I would have like to have known him. I send my condolences and I know he is in good hands right now. Kirby was one of my "brothers-in-arms" from Vietnam.  Though we served in different platoons and at different times, we became "brothers" at our annual Big Bad Bravo infantry company reunion.  He will be missed greatly from our B Co, 4/21st Bn, 11th Inf Bde, Americal Division reunions.

Carolyn I am so sorry. Kirby was a stand up kind of man. I had nothing but respect for him. I only worked with him 4 years in PQA before I took the Buyout in 2008. But he was one of the best workers there. He was a good man and he will always be someone that I will remember. God speed Kirby, you will be missed.  Pete Gantt White House, Tn.

Kirby lived across the street from me in the 50's we played together and went to school together. We have many fond memories of those days gone by from Central Av. Bakertown and Shelbyville Mills School and even Central High. God's comfort blessings and sstrength to the family at this time. Photo Kirby, Gerald, and (me) gene in the 50's those were great days.
