Lisa Marie Buxtin Arnold was born March 15, 1967, in Chicago, Illinois and passed away June 19, 2023, at the age of 56. She grew up on a beautiful plot of land in Naperville, IL on an acre and 1/10th, in a two-story home, with her three siblings, where her parents still reside to this day.
Lisa attended Saints Peter and Paul Catholic grade school, finishing her education through Waubonsie Valley High School. Lisa moved to Tennessee in her early 20’s, around 1988, where she began her journey of raising her boys, Bryan and Kyle Hughes. She eventually met the love of her life, David Neil Arnold, in 1997 on the dance floor at City Limits, while working as a single mother of two, in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. To Lisa’s enjoyment, this would eventually be the place she was able to forever call home, while being made whole by her newly found love. Luckily, David was not alone, and had with him Lisa’s future stepdaughter, Samantha Ann Arnold.
Lisa was a successful, knowledgeable woman, who made her career in the mortgage industry as a mortgage underwriter for the last 25 years. Lisa was on the cheer squad, pep squad, an active volleyball and softball player, and swimmer on the Mighty Mud Rats. As a vibrant, artistically driven person, Lisa was involved with many things that were spirited, and daring. Lisa was a guitarist from grade school to high school, and a beautiful singer. Lisa was also the lead lady in Fiddler on the Roof and the scarecrow in grade school for The Wizard of Oz. Also, through Naperville Summer Place Theatre, she auditioned for and landed some roles in events on the campus of North Central College.
When it came to family, Lisa was everyone’s Mama and Grammy. They were titles loudly and proudly worn. Lisa was very well known as the sports mama. From taking her daughter Samantha to many late cheer practices and even coaching her team with the prettiest and best of pom poms, to scraping coins together to make sure Bryan and Kyle had cleats and pads for football practice. She was the football mama for Bryan’s teams all through his football career, where everyone knew and loved her lasagna, but loved her bubbly attitude even more. There was no question about Lisa’s love for the game or love for her kids in action. From drowning out an entire football stadium with triumphant cheers, to showing the choreography to the cheer squads and reminding them to smile, to evoking the strongest of fight within the hearts of her wrestlers on the mats- Lisa was known to be a voice you could count on. Lisa loved to travel and go on vacations, being the known travel agent and planner for the family. Lisa made people laugh when they didn’t know they could, but at the same time could give em hell with the best of them. Lisa was the unbreakable constant in everyone’s life that she loved and supported – and that was everyone she crossed paths with.
Madi, Trenton, Carter, Aziah, Raelyn, Harlyn and Ty were who she lived for. If she wasn’t at wrestling meets, baseball games, soccer games, hockey games, or gymnastics she was off planning an adventure for her and her grandchildren. Lisa was a firm believer that gifts of time and experiences made much better presents because that meant they would always be making memories together.
Lisa is proceeded in death by great nephew Hayden Alexander Card. Lisa is survived by her husband David Neil Arnold; parents, Mal and Lori Buxtin, her father and mother-in-law, Harvel and Martha Arnold; two sons and daughters-in-law, Bryan Hughes and Nicole Bickel-Daly and Kyle Hughes and Erin Hughes; bonus daughter, Samantha Arnold; siblings; Michelle, Scott(Jen), and Brett Buxtin, and seven grandchildren; Madi, Trenton, Carter, Aziah, Raelyn, Harlyn, and Ty, with numerous nieces and nephews and their children, whom all loved her dearly.
