Born in Little Rock, AR, Marvin was a committed family man. As a deeply dedicated father, Marvin spent countless hours taking his children on road trips to national parks and points of interest, including a tour of historic Route 66. His strong sense of adventure meant he loved hitting the road and he truly appreciated experiencing the natural beauty of America. As a loving husband, Marvin also enjoyed spending time with his wife, Ann, going on dates, cruising around town, and attending their church, St. Catherine’s of Alexandria. In his personal time, he enjoyed staying up-to-date on current affairs, working out, researching historical topics, and watching Razorback football. Marvin was a great conversationalist, and always seemed to have some knowledge on any given topic!
A man of integrity, Marvin proudly volunteered for the army while in college, serving as military police in Korea during the Vietnam War. He later served as a police officer, retiring as a sergeant from the Los Angeles Police Department.
His grandchildren were his most cherished gift. Marvin was proud to see them excel in their endeavors. He enthusiastically attended wrestling meets and other sporting events. He couldn’t participate in enough ping pong matches and he made sure to show great interest in the latest insect discovery. Grandpa always had a smile and plenty of time for his grandchildren.
Marvin is preceded in death by his parents, the honorable Marvin P. Morton, Jr. and Mary Alice (née Campbell) Morton. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Ann (née McCorkle) Morton; his children, Julia, Marvin, Howard, Elizabeth, Claire, and Charlotte; and beloved grandchildren, Mia, Marvin, Jack, Andrew, and Aaron.
In lieu of flowers, please treat yourself to some Baskin Robbins ice cream. Marvin would suggest World Class Chocolate.
