Anita Pauline Nichols Wright, 68, of Nacogdoches, Texas, passed away on March 12, 2025. She was born on April 25, 1956, in Nacogdoches to Lois Elizabeth Whitton Nichols and Hollis “Pete” Nichols.
Anita attended Nacogdoches Independent Schools before later earning her GED through the Christian Women’s Job Corps. She was passionate about education and empowerment, eventually working as a coordinator for the program, where she helped other women achieve their own educational and career goals before retiring.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 11 years, James Keith Wright; her children, both maternal and by marriage: Talina Lashley, Cody Lashley, Maranda Martin and her husband Bobby, Jeremy Fults and his wife Tasha, Zach Wright and his fiancée Sophie Oldmixon, and Sarah McCoy and her husband Joshua. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: Caitlin Eckert, Nigel Miller, Lexi Fults, Kinsey Fults,Easton Fults, Astra Lashley, and Cody Lashley Jr.; and her great-grandchildren Ellie Eckert, Justin Eckert, and little JJ. Additionally, she is survived by many cherished extended family members and friends.
Anita was preceded in death by her parents, Lois and Pete Nichols; her sisters, Sharron Sanders and Trilla Bailey; her brother, Jerry Don Nichols; and her mother-in-law, Janice Wright.
Anita had a love for going to the lake and just relaxing at the camper —so long as there was a shady spot to escape to when needed. She enjoyed playing a beloved family game called “Fascination” and could always be counted on for a lively karaoke session with friends and family. She was known for her playful spirit, larger-than-life personality, and the way she welcomed everyone as family from the moment they met. Anita had a generous heart, always eager to give gifts, whether someone needed them or not.
Her love for Dr. Pepper even made national news when a tornado struck their travel trailer, exposing her impressive stockpile of her favorite drink to the world.
Anita leaves behind an irreplaceable void, but her love, laughter, and countless cherished memories will remain in the hearts of those who knew her.
A celebration of Anita’s life will held Wednesday March 19, 2025 at 11am at Cason Monk Funeral Home in Nacogdoches. The family appreciates all the love and support during this difficult time.
